Holkham Hall – A Place Close to My Heart (in Every Season)
There’s something truly uplifting about Holkham Hall in the spring. This beautiful Palladian mansion in North Norfolk is special to me all year round, but as the days lengthen and the parkland begins to bloom, it takes on a new kind of magic. The daffodils, the birdsong, the salty breeze from the beach—it all stirs something creative in me. Holkham never fails to inspire—and it has a very personal place in my jewellery-making too.
A Little History
Holkham Hall was built in the 18th century by Thomas Coke, the 1st Earl of Leicester, and the same family still care for it today. It’s a true masterpiece of Palladian architecture, nestled in rolling parkland with the sea just a stroll away. There’s something timeless and grounding about it, and I always feel more centred after a visit.
Holkham inspired my very first beach bangle—the Holkham Bangle. The idea came to me after a walk across the sandy dunes, watching the soft waves rolling in. That piece sparked a whole collection of seaside-inspired jewellery, so Holkham is forever stitched into the heart of my work.
Spring Fair Sparkle
This weekend (18th–20th April), I’ll be back at Holkham for the Spring Fair, tucked into my cosy wooden cabin amongst a wonderful gathering of makers, artists, and foodies. It’s one of my favourite events of the year—full of colour, energy, and the joy of spring. I’ll be bringing along lots of handmade jewellery, including some seasonal favourites and new pieces perfect for spring birthdays and early summer weddings.
A Springtime Treasure Hunt
One of the things I love most about the Spring Fair is that it’s the perfect way to support small businesses while treating yourself or finding something special for someone you love. From hand-poured candles and artisan bakes to norfolk coast infpired linocuts and beautiful homewares, the fair is bursting with thoughtful finds. I always leave with a few treasures tucked in my bag—and a long wishlist for next time!
Why Holkham Still Feels Like Home
Holkham is woven into both my life and my jewellery. Whether I’m thinking about new ideas by the shore, walking the dog through the woodlands, or setting up for a market day, it’s a place that brings me calm and joy in equal measure.
This spring, I hope to bring a little of that Holkham feeling into my jewellery cabin. If you’re heading to the market, do pop by and say hello—it would be lovely to see you and share a bit of spring together.
