Cromer Beach Bangle
A last minute Christmas commission was the starting point for the Cromer Beach bangle, which seems a strange birth but I made a Holkham bangle as a christmas gift for someone and in discussion, Kate asked if I had ever thought about focusing on Cromer.
To be fair, we don't seem to spend much time at Cromer beach and I'm not really sure why, it is a beautiful spot. Kate owns the Garden House Gallery, a fabulous art and gifts gallery near the pier in Cromer. She stocks so many beautiful locally made pieces of work, that you are sure to come away with a full bag and an empty purse!
Kate had already put some thought in to what the bangle should have as charms, she gave me these ideas: Cromer is the gem of the norfolk coast, the cromer crab and being able to see the sun rise and set. That gave me a fair few ideas, but I also wanted to add something to mark the pier, did you know Cromer is the only pier in the Uk with a traditional end of the pier show?
After a consultation with facebook users for ideas for the gemstone, this is what the Cromer beach bangle features:
a sterling silver crab
a wave charm
a gemstone disk featuring amber to represent the colours of fish and chips and sunsets and sunrises
a disk with a piece of 9ct gold representing the pier and a reminder of the golden age of pier shows!
